Ok, so maybe facts about spiders are not necessarily fun but there is certainly some interesting information out there! Spiders are a well-known and often well feared critter found in homes, businesses and properties throughout Arkansas and across the entire country. While most spiders are harmless, they are certainly not a critter you want hanging around.

The black widow spider is probably one of the most recognizable Arkansas spiders found in homes throughout Benton, Little Rock, Hot Springs and across the state. These spiders prefer to spin their webs outdoors, in dark, secluded places, usually near the ground, but can also be found inside our homes in the dark corners of garages, sheds, basements and crawl spaces; where ever there is an ample amount of wandering insects for them to feast on.

In Little Rock, Benton and all across Arkansas as well as most of the United States, extreme heat and drought conditions are driving people indoors in search of some relief; unfortunately we are not the only ones. Ants, spiders, cockroaches and many other insects are seeking refuge from the heat and lack of water and much to our dismay, the best place for them to do this is inside our homes.

Many of us have and really it’s not surprising because spiders like the American house spider have been enjoying the higher insect levels that come along with summer.
