Silken Bags Made By Bag Worms Can Kill Trees |

Army Worms Can Mess Up A Lawn Quickly |
This summer seems to have been one of the worst summer for some of the most common pest such as ants, spiders, and flies, but it has also seemed to bring about trouble with other less common pest such as worms. Although McCauley Services can treat for worms such as inch worms, some require treatment from a lawn specialist. Two specific type of worms seem to be popping up lately: The Bag Worm and Army Worm.
Bagworm
The Bag worm that is commonly referred to as a caterpillar, gets its name from the silken bags it makes in trees. These bags sometimes resemble a web and can actually kill the tree. Very small caterpillars can spin strands of silk and be carried by wind, an activity called “ballooning”. Larger larvae may crawl to adjacent plants.
Army worm
The Army worm is green with two black stripes. This worm eats Bermuda grass and can mess up a pretty lawn fast! That is actually why they are called Army Worms, because they come marching in like an army and destroy the grass.
Although McCauley Services is not licensed to treat for either of these worms, your local lawn company should be able to take care of them. Especially if caught early enough, treatment can be very effective.
