Not only are spiders lurking in corners or scurrying across the floor annoying and creepy and spider webs unsightly, some types of spiders in Little Rock and Arkansas can be a bit dangerous. For these reasons and others, we have placed spiders on our most wanted list. If you are having trouble controlling spiders then please be sure to alert our Arkansas pest control professionals. They may only be in your home to spin webs and catch prey but who wants to deal with them or worry about the more dangerous spiders? That is why our team of professional Arkansas exterminators wanted to share with you some of the common spiders in Little Rock, Fayetteville and throughout our state that have made our most wanted list.

American house spider - A common spider found in the home and although they may look scary, house spiders are simply a nuisance pest and not capable of causing much harm. In some cases, they may bite but only when they feel threatened. And their venom is not strong enough to provoke much of a reaction. You are most likely to find house spiders spinning webs in corners, closets, and other well-hidden areas of the home.

Black widow spider - A shiny black spider that poses a more serious threat than house spiders, black widows typically stay outside and spin their webs in dark places like leaf debris but they can also be found in sheds, garages and crawl spaces if there are enough insects to prey on. It is very rare to be bitten by a black widow but they do have stronger venom than house spiders so their bites could provoke a reaction.

Brown recluse spider - A larger species of spider that is yellow to tan in color and with long legs, they can also be identified by a fiddle-shaped pattern close to their eyes. Brown recluse spiders are considered more dangerous because if they are disturbed or threatened, their bites are strong and can produce anything from a mild-irritation to hospitalization with slow healing open sores. Some encounters with this spider have proved fatal but it is very rare.

The most important thing to remember about spiders in your home is that they are not there to get you but rather enjoy some peace and quiet and some hunting at night. But if they happen to be finding peace and quiet in places that you frequent, then we have a problem!
