There has been a lot of talk recently on how mice will become a bigger threat to homes as the weather cools down. If you didn’t have a chance, make sure to check out our previous blog which lays out the many dangers of mice in the home. With the threat of disease, contamination, and structural damage it is no wonder that Little Rock residents are throwing their hands up in the air wondering what they can do to prevent such disasters.
The good news is that there are many ways in which you can prevent mice from getting inside and thus causing you, your family, and your home any harm. To help spread the word, the Little Rock pest control pros at McCauley Services would like to share some ways to mouse proof your home this fall.
Do a careful inspection of the exterior including the foundation and windows for any small cracks or holes. Be sure to seal off these openings so that you do not leave an open door for tiny mice to squeeze through.
Apply weather stripping to doors that may contain gaps.
Take the trash out on a regular basis and be sure to keep it stored in bins with tight fitting lids as to keep mice and other pests out.
Deep clean the kitchen to remove built up grease and loose crumbs that will attract mice to the inside.
Always clean and sanitize food surfaces to remove food debris and prevent the spread of bacteria and pathogens.
The reason mice are so attracted to homes is because we are unknowingly providing them all that they need for survival. Mice are commensal, which means they thrive in human environments. So as long as you are not providing them with the food, water, and shelter they seek, they are much less likely to be a problem.
But don't forget, mice are sneaky pests! They can squeeze through tiny cracks and since they breed rapidly, what started as one little mouse can quickly grow into a full on infestation. If this has happened to you, make sure to contact McCauley Services right away. Our team can get to your home in Little Rock, Fayetteville, or elsewhere in Arkansas quickly! And with services designed to safely eliminate rodents, you can trust that your home will be returned to normal - pest free!
