Changing the water in your child's wading pool frequently this summer can help prevent mosquito breeding |
If you and your family enjoy gathering around the pool, relaxing on the deck or simply love to hang out in your backyard during the summer months, then you’re probably already arming yourself with mosquito zappers, swatters and of course bug spray. Did you know, however, that there are more effective ways to prevent mosquitoes from ruining your outdoor activities?
At McCauley Services we want you to have a great summer, free of these annoying insects and to that end we would like to offer some tips to keep mosquitoes away this summer.
Mosquitoes must have water in order to breed. Discourage mosquito activity by removing or eliminating any standing water on your property. Buckets, clogged gutters, old tires and even children’s toys are all likely places to find these nuisance pests. Also change the water in kids’ wading pools and bird baths frequently and properly maintain your swimming pool. If you allow standing water to sit for more than one week you are inviting mosquitoes!
How many times have you lain awake at night listening to the buzzing of a mosquito as it flies around your head? By ensuring that all of your door and window screens are free of rips and holes you can help prevent mosquitoes from coming into your home. Sealing cracks will also help deter mosquito activity inside.
While a mosquito bite is irritating, it is not the only thing you should be worried about when it comes to these pests. Mosquitoes are also vectors of many serious conditions and may expose your family and friends to encephalitis and the West Nile Virus among others, as well as cause heartworm in your pets.
At McCauley Services we realize how intrusive mosquitoes can be at a BBQ or an even a quiet day in the garden and that is why we offer our Mosquito Control. Whether you live in Little Rock, Benton or elsewhere in Arkansas we offer an industry leading program to help reduce the mosquito activity on your property that includes a thorough inspection to identify breeding and harborage sites, as well as highly effective mosquito treatments.
