Older | Newer

Let McCauley Services get rid of cockroaches in your Arkansas home or business.

When you think of cockroaches most likely images of roach-infested motels or dingy apartment buildings full of these nasty bugs come to mind but in reality cockroaches are problem for home and business owners throughout Arkansas.  At McCauley Services we’ve received several inquiries about this insect recently and thought it an appropriate time to relay some information about these bugs.

There are several different species of cockroaches throughout the US.  In Arkansas there are three that we frequently encounter and they are:

The American cockroach – Typically measuring over 1 inch long, the American cockroach is reddish-brown in color with light colored edges and wings that appear longer than the body.

The German cockroach – Quite small in comparison to the American cockroach, the German cockroach is approximately ¼ to 5/8 inch in length and is light brown in color with dark lengthwise stripes on the head.

The Smokeybrown cockroach – Adult of this species are between 1-2 inches long and are brownish black in color with well developed wings that stretch to the tip of the abdomen.

Although it varies by species to some degree, for the most part cockroaches infest areas that have three critical elements: food, moisture and warmth.

  • Cockroaches, by nature, are scavengers who will eat most anything.
  • Wet basements, kitchens and bathrooms are all likely spots to find these bugs congregating as are areas with high humidity.

A problem for homes, apartment buildings and commercial facilities including foodservice establishments, cockroaches are intrusive insects that have the ability to quickly escalate into a major problem.  Not only a nuisance pest, they can aggravate allergies and their droppings and body parts may trigger asthma symptoms, especially in children.   If you live or operate a business in Little Rock, Benton or Hot Springs or elsewhere in Arkansas and are experiencing a cockroach problem, contact McCauley Services right away.  Our pest professionals are knowledgeable on the local pest pressures and are ready to curb your cockroach problemusing the latest, eco-friendly practices in the industry.
